Teaching Assistant

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving, diverse, co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol. We are looking for a supportive and highly capable Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 5 on an individual basis. This is a fixed term role linked to EHCP funding and expected to be for a minimum of 2 academic years.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and, as well as being able to communicate effectively with external professionals and students, will be able to support a student with social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as supporting their literacy skills to ensure full access to the curriculum.

An NVQ Level 3 qualification in teaching and learning, or a willingness to work towards this, is essential.

The hours for this role will be 37.5 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm, including a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. These hours are to be worked during term time and on all INSET days (35 weeks per year).

You will receive a pro-rata salary of between £21,214 to £22,983 (based on £27,518 FTE to £29,812 FTE), depending on skills, experience and qualifications. This includes paid holiday based on 25 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays pro-rata.

Other benefits include:

  • lunch during term time
  • free parking on site
  • a defined contribution pension scheme
  • staff remission on school fees in accordance with the staff remission policy.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school. We value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom. Our recent ISI report the school was outstanding; raw examination results are consistently good and value-add scores are high.

Collegiate Senior School occupies a glorious thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network, with approximately 700 students aged from 3 to 18.
