Part-time Teaching Assistant & Librarian at City Centre Campus
At St Georgeʼs, Teaching Assistants (TAs) are highly valued and recognised as an integral part of any teaching and learning team. In the Early Years, the social and emotional aspect of their role is particularly strong and they are seen as key care-takers for the children in these years. TAs are ultimately accountable to the Principal but take guidance from Heads of school, class teachers and the Head of Student Support Services as appropriate to the area they are assigned to. Their help in a lesson provides not only the Class teacher, but also the pupils with the support, knowledge and understanding that ensure teaching and learning is of an optimum level; for this reason they will be involved in the planning sessions and, through negotiation with other members of the team, share their strengths and assist learning. This unique role is paired with a responsibility to lead on the physical environment, book collection and administration of the Junior school library.
