Self-Employed Visiting Music Teacher - Double Bass
About the Opportunity
Redmaids’ High School is currently seeking a talented self-employed double bass teacher to work as a visiting teacher in both its Senior and Junior School music departments. We would ideally like to engage
one teacher to teach across both sites, covering all genres (including classical and jazz).
About the Role
Visiting Music Teachers at the school are self-employed, with teachers being responsible for their own invoicing and timetabling, although the school does use SOCs software to facilitate timetabling and monitor attendance. Lessons take place during the school day (from 8am - 6pm) with a 40 minute duration in the the Senior School and a 30 minute duration in the Junior School. Teachers are asked to create a rotating timetable to ensure that students do not miss the same academic lesson too many times within a given term.
There are currently 2 double bass students in the Senior School and none currently in the Junior School, but we very much hope to see this build. We have a good set of smaller double basses in school to support this. the school also has a "minority instrument" scheme, which pays for the first five lessons on specific instruments, including double bass.
Our Visiting Music Teachers are a vital part of our music department. They are very important members of the school community and we highly value the contribution they make to the school and its students.
