The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant, forward thinking school community and play a central role in shaping how our students experience Performing Arts. At Royal High Bath, girls are at the heart of everything we do — their curiosity, confidence and creativity drive our purpose. We honour tradition while embracing innovation, creating an environment where young people feel empowered to explore, express and excel. Our Performing Arts provision is a cornerstone of that mission: a place where imagination is encouraged, skills are nurtured, and girls support one another as they grow into bold, compassionate performers and collaborators.

As Performing Arts Technician, you will bring the magic of performance to life. You’ll inspire creativity by delivering exceptional technical support across lighting, sound, projection and theatre technologies, ensuring every production, lesson and event is polished, professional and memorable. Your expertise will elevate the quality of our performance experiences and enable students to shine — whether on stage, behind the scenes or in the classroom. If you’re excited by the idea of enabling outstanding creative work and being part of a school that champions ambition, inclusivity and a life unlimited, this role offers a truly rewarding next step.

Key aspects of the role:

• Bring Performing Arts to life by supporting outstanding learning, productions and events across Drama, Music and Dance.

• Deliver exceptional technical support including lighting, sound, projection, video, audio creation and editing for lessons, assessments, shows and exams.

• Provide substantial creative and technical input for school productions — sourcing props and costumes, enhancing audience experience, supporting rehearsals and sound checks.

• Facilitate and manage specialist spaces such as the recording studio, supporting A Level Music Tech and producing high quality recordings of exams and assessed lessons.

• Support whole school events requiring lighting, sound and technical setup, both internal and external.

• Lead on health & safety compliance including risk assessments, PAT testing, equipment checks and ensuring all theatre technologies meet GDST standards.

• Train and support staff and students in safe and effective use of technical equipment; contribute to induction and ongoing development.

• Collaborate with Marketing & Digital Communications to showcase Performing Arts work across appropriate channels.
