Putney High School is seeking a Maker in Residence to play a pivotal role in advancing the school’s vision for a future-focused, interdisciplinary creative faculty. This exciting position is designed to enrich the student experience by embedding real-world design practice into everyday learning, enabling pupils to develop as confident, independent makers with a strong sense of their own creative identity.

Working across all key stages, the Maker in Residence will broaden access to design and making beyond option subjects, ensuring that all pupils benefit from engaging, hands-on creative experiences. Through curriculum projects, workshops, clubs and our newly formed Artemis programme, the successful candidate will extend opportunities for creative exploration across the school while supporting students in producing ambitious, high-quality portfolios that prepare them for future pathways in art, design and creative technology.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff and students to foster innovation, strengthen interdisciplinary practice and support the faculty’s strategic priorities. They will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging creative experiences, contributing to staff upskilling through shared practice and helping to create a lasting legacy through exhibitions, skills development initiatives and enduring resources.

We are seeking an imaginative and skilled practitioner with a passion for creative education, excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire young people. A commitment to collaboration, innovation and making is essential, as is the enthusiasm to help establish a distinctive “Made in Putney” culture and further position Putney High School as a leader in contemporary creative education.
