The Opportunity
Haberdashers' Monmouth School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Finance Manager. Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the school’s finances, including charitable and trading entities..
This is a varied and rewarding position, offering the opportunity to lead a small team and use and develop expertise across a diverse range of financial processes.
This is a permanent, full-time role for 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide line management and oversight of the finance staff
- Support the annual audit and preparation of financial statements across all entities
- Manage bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Oversee intercompany reconciliations and cross charging
- Ensure costs are allocated correctly and statutory accounting procedures are followed
- Maintain compliance with tax and charity regulations
- Prepare management accounts, VAT returns, and regulatory reports
- Administer Teachers’ Pensions and monthly payroll processes
- Handle insurance claims and support annual renewals
- Drive the effective use of ICT and accounting software to improve processes
About You
You’ll bring a recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience, with proven ability to manage accounts in a busy financial environment. Confident in finance systems and payroll, you combine strong IT skills with excellent communication and people skills. You’re highly motivated, detail‑focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
