Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over one hundred boarding or flexi-boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.
We are seeking to appoint a highly organised and professional Whitgift School Administrator from 4 January 2027 to provide effective administrative support within the School Office, with specific responsibility for pupil attendance and the administration of Headmaster’s, Sectional and Proctor Detentions. The role will involve maintaining accurate records, monitoring absences and lateness, producing reports and communications, and liaising with pupils, parents and staff. The postholder will also provide wider administrative support across the School Office and may be assigned to other functions or departments according to operational requirements.
The successful candidate will have strong administrative experience, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment. They will demonstrate accuracy, discretion and confidence in using Microsoft Office and digital systems, with previous experience of attendance administration or school management systems being advantageous. There is a reasonable degree of flexibility regarding this appointment, and we welcome discussions at interview about proposed working arrangements. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred working arrangement in their application.
In return, we offer a generous benefits package, including a money purchase pension scheme (with Life Assurance), access to an Employee Discount Club, membership of a healthcare plan, discounted school fees for permanent posts within the Foundation, and a supportive working environment with opportunities for training and development.
We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
We invite interested candidates to apply as soon as possible as applications will be reviewed on a daily basis, and interviews may take place at any time. This vacancy may close earlier than the stated deadline if sufficient applications are received, so early submission is encouraged.
